abstract = "It has been well stablished in modern DC/DC converters industry
the need of saving in mass and volume while increasing power
capability and efficiency. In the case of space industry, these
requirements are imperative. State of the art technology to
achieve these performances includes what is called hybrid
technology, which employs components at dye level. This
manufacturing process demands a high level of quality control, the
final product usually has a very high price and many times ITAR
restrictions make the procurement of such devices not viable. To
overcome these difficulties, this work presents the design of a
compact DC/DC converter by means of SMD components only. To
validate the design, this article will delineate the steps to
manufacture an advanced prototype in the near future and point out
further developments for the qualification of this converter. The
final objective is to show that this converter can have power
density as close as possible to those obtained with hybrid
technology with the final advantage of being a totally
nationalized product, with no restrictions and regulations, which
fits any Brazilian satellite currently in development by the
Brazilian space program.",
